You probably can't. Lots of people report that it takes ages (if at all) to get listed in dmoz. Fortunately it's not important though.

If your site is good enough, it will be listed quickly.
And you should submit to dmoz.

To paraphrase a common stock answer that you'll hear many DMOZ-types give: "DMOZ is not a listing service for webmasters" (one of the few things they manage to get right). It's a 1998 idea that struggles to maintain any usefulness in 2007.

So...here are the steps you need to follow:

1) Take 10 minutes of your life where you're not doing anything else, because this will likely be a waste of time and result in 10 minutes that you won't get back.

2) Find the most appropriate low-level category (one where there are no subcats, ideally) to submit to.

3) Submit.

4) Don't give it another thought. They won't.

Hi

I just had a quick look at dmoz first time in a long time, really annoying how the categorys are organised and the quality of some of the sites on there.

The thing that really made me laugh is you can email the editor, but your not allowed to suggest anything about the site in his category or use it to suggest ur own site, why the bloody ell is it there then lol !

There was a teen site that had adult adverts onit, yet i cant tell him to pull his finger out lol !

Why anyone this days want to be listed in DMOZ anyway?

2 - 3 years ago when directories used DMOZ feed it would be meaningful
but at this point you probably will be better off (if your want to have your site
Title and Description stay intact) to stay away from DMOZ

I think a lot of people see competitors sites in dmoz, and think that they need to get listed in there to compete !

Absolutely agree with usearchme.
I don't think that DMOZ listing is now as important as it used to be some years ago.
