Its seems they keep changing this but what are some of the best Google Adsense adds out of Text , Banner , video or any other type & the add placements on a website page

That's the two best positions, You should start with Google's text ads.

It really depends on the design of your site. In my case, I prefer using the banner ads located above every post of my blog and a long vertical text ads on the right side of it.

I would suggest to try different ad positions and see which works. It greatly depends on the design of your website. I usualy like to put ads around my content.

From my point of view, the top leaderboard and the right side medium rectangle ad place are the most visible area to attract the visitors. Also I would prefer to medium rectangle image ads (300 x 250), leaderboard (728 x 90) and small square (200 x 200). I hope the above mentioned ad sizes will comparatively get more impressions than any other ad formats

"Text and image" type ads, and best position is called "Above the fold", means whatever is fit in to the screen from the top of the site/blog.

In text ads, ads on the top of the page and ads in the menu. Generally, ads in the footer aren't very effective.
Don't forget that everything depends on your website design and color of the text.

Ads must in a such a placement that they can cover a whole web page, like in header, in a mid, and in footer. Image adds are quiet more attractive try to also use them.

Someone suggested me to block cheap ads in order to increase Adsense earnings.

He said, If we block $0.01-$0.03 ads then only high paying ads will be displayed and any click will generate $0.05-$1.00 in Adsense account. I didn't test this strategy yet because I am not getting 100+ visitors a day for my blog. But when I get good visitors to my blog then I might follow this strategy.

Best position, I think header, sidebar and middle part of your post.

I can say that the best position for any ad is Header and , near register button ,and it will more beneficial if your ad is designed in Flash ,it will be more attractive.

As jelwelraz suggested - is there any way of telling which of the Adsense adds that they put on your site are better ones (worth more money per click).
Is there any kind of toolbar or anything else that I could download & install ?

I could also ask if anyone knows of any add companies like google adsense that are better money making.

There is no way to see which ads are worth what, however, there is a few things you can do:

1.) By having both text and image ads turned on you are making more companies compete for your space, thus driving the earnings up.

2.) target the most popular ad sizes. You can find what they are when creating a new ad zone. The recommended sizes are for this reason.
