I've written articles for other sites and for other newsletters.
Publishing arrangements: Some of the articles was done in Word and sent to the publisher for adding. A couple of sites had their own editors in which I could cut-n-paste my article or type it in. And another accepted it as an email.
Motivation: All the publishers, whether in newsletter or on sites, have my site links or information listed. One site that has now gone defunct, belly-up, down the tubes, etc. paid the contributing editors that had a certain amount of unique views of their articles. I also enjoy teaching/training and writing seems to go along with that.
Results: I received considerably more hits to my listed sites in my articles. I received pay from some sources. I got to hone my skills in the writing department.
You probably can't tell by my posts, but I like to write. So getting published was worthwhile, and it has many, various benefits.
IMO, generic articles have their place for introducing someone to a subject, but there needs to be more....thus, more need for the specialized articles. I would definitely do it again, oh yeah, I am still doing it.
