I have always been particularly interested in computers and design, and a couple of months ago I took a particular interest in Flash. I started to look around for bit of flash that I could use on a personal website, but I could not find any good and FREE that suited my purpose. This inspired me to design a website dedicated to doing just this, and http://xuroq.co.uk was born. When it was first released 4 months ago, it was not a particular hit and was only receiving 30-40 visits today, that were mostly coming from forums (links in signature) and friends. Then after the initial two months things started to pick up and word started to spread about the website and to this day, although it is not as big as your ebay's and google's, through advertising it is starting to make me decent money. With 20,000 pagviews in its 4th month (January) and that predicted to more than double for next month things are certainly looking promising for the website and me!
If I have any tips and advice for website owners it would be to keep the site updated and do not give up on it. Keep spreading the word about the site and the visitors will come.
Although I am not making a living out of my website (hopefully soon to be website's) it is defiantly easy money and even better it is something I enjoy doing
(added) One other pointer is please make sure that the website design is good. I hate to see websites with decent ideas fail because of poor web design
