Hello everyone,

I am 17 years on now and I feel like I am alot older. From the minute I was introduced to web development and design I knew it was the road I wanted to go down. Throughout my school years, I always loved art classes and other classes were I could put my creative mind into good use. In web design, your mind is in 'creativeness' lockdown mode, which is a good thing.

This story is about my first success with CreativeSTL. My introductory year to freelancing was the year of 2003 when I bought my first domain name, CreativeSTL - (Creative - Skins Templates Logos). I set it up with absolutely no intention of making any kind of money from it what so ever. I decided to go independant and start to showcase my work online and try to target forums to up my traffic.

After about a years worth of freelancing experience, I was ready for year two were I sought my most anticipated ambition - to make some serious money. As days went on I was wanting to learn more and more about designing and self educating myself with Adobe Photoshop. Unfortunately, the two years of experience weren't enough to make some serious money, yes I was making money, but not as much as I wanted to. I think this is what pushed me even further to start learning more and get into the right state of mind to go make more.

Into year three & to the present day, I have been having the time of my life. Now an Advisor on a really big internet webmastering forum, I have learned so much from my four years in the business. It was only this year when I started to make some really nice amount of money with my project, only this time I had created Creativestl into a small online company, working along two long term internet friends who are both coders.

From around late July 2007 till mid October, I made the money I was aiming for. Not alot in relation to most online companies, but it was a satisfying amount for me and my two colleagues.

On this present day I have sold Creativestl but what a rollercoaster it has been. It has been 100% educational throughout the years, but that doesn't mean I have stopped designing, not at all. I am currently financially managing a few projects that are upcoming and also another personal project to substitute from Creativestl.

I guess this is my story finished now, thanks for reading and hope you have enjoyed it.

Regards,

James McDonald

I have seen you around on a different forum, as well as some of your work. I must admit you are a pretty amazing designer and I am a big fan of the work that you can produce.

Hopefully in the future, when I have more website projects, I will hire you to do some work for me!
