So Hilary Clinton says publicly to the leadership in Mexico that the U.S. is also responsible for the violence in Mexico because of the "Appetite for drugs in the U.S.". By that logic, we must also be partially responsible for those who die trying to illegally immigrate here because of our willingness to pay higher wages. Perhaps we are also partially responsible for terrorist attacks, because the idea of a free people threatens the authority of totalitarian governments that oppress their people. By that logic we must also be partially responsible for the oppressive clamp downs those governments put on their people to keep them under control. After all, if there were no free press in the west, they wouldn't have to censor everything, and they might not have to resort to such violent measures to keep their people under control.
Anyway, right or wrong, the world press has caught onto Secretary Clinton's words and it has made headlines in pretty much every foreign journal. It seems that the foreign journals are reveling in those words. Forgive me for being a bit over dramatic, but it seems that self loathing is a prerequisite to putting a pistol in your mouth. Does any of this make sense to anyone besides Hilary Clinton?
By the way, all the above is not to say I'm against sending military aide to Mexico so they can get their gang problem under control. We had similar violence in our streets when we worked at rooting corruption/mob influence from our government not so long ago. It is a necessary step and I'm glad to see Mexico taking it.
