Carol Thatcher will no longer work on The One Show after being reported for making an off-air remark, the BBC has announced.
The daughter of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher referred to a tennis player as a "golliwog" backstage during filming of the BBC One programme.
However, the 55-year-old will not be banned from the BBC as a whole.
The corporation said it had hoped Thatcher would issue an unconditional apology but she had declined to do so.
Her spokesman told The Times she made the remark in a conversation with the show's presenter Adrian Chiles back stage and it was "meant as a joke".
"Carol never intended any racist comment," he said.
It is disgusting that we've had a leak of private conversations in the green room - the BBC has more leaks than Thames Water

Carol Thatcher's spokesman

"She made a light aside about this tennis player and his similarity to the golliwog on the jam pot when she was growing up.
"There's no way, obviously, that she would condone any racist comment - we would refute that entirely. It would not be in her nature to do anything like that.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7868401.stm

So to recap - she said a terribly racist thing and then said:

1. she didn't mean it as a racist thing (the fact that what she said IS racist and the fact that she apparently doesn't recognise that - doesn't seem to worry her P.R. people!)

2. it is unnatural for her to say anything like the thing she said but then pretended she didn't mean in the way meant by the way she said it

We should demand the BBC fires her (or we won't pay our license fee - how about it? More boycotts by the minute - well it's working for the wildcat strikers!). And instead of apologizing, they start calling the BBC names and even insulting Thames Water! That's responsible publicism.

I wish this board had sympathy points instead of talkupation points... I'd be SPing you up like mad!

Personally, I've always loved the line the seal team instructor gave his new volunteers on G.I. Jane. "I've never seen a wild thing feel sorry for itself". Good movie. You should check it out. Interestingly, it was about sexual prejudice in the U.S. military.

Well to you anyone with dark skin is a "wild thing" but that's purely because you have entrenched racist values! Anyway, the story continues. Representatives of the Queen have made moves to show they do not really agree with Ms Thatcher about her right to be racist without interference from the public.

Queen's shop removes golliwog toy

The original Golly dolls were sold in the 1960s

Managers of a gift shop on the Queen's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk have apologised after they were found to be selling golliwog toys.
The dolls have now been withdrawn from sale and a spokesman said the managers "did not intend to offend anyone".
The news came after Carol Thatcher was axed from The One Show after referring to a tennis player as a "golliwog".
The BBC said on Wednesday evening that "a few hundred" viewers had complained about its decision.
The £9.99 golliwog toys had been on sale in the Sandringham shop for more than a year.
A spokesman for the 20,000-acre estate said: "The management of the shop have said they did not intend to offend anyone by selling this product and have apologised if any offence has been caused.
"The shop will immediately review its purchasing policy."
Buckingham Palace has stressed that the Queen is not personally involved in deciding what is sold in the shop.
Sandringham has been a retreat for British monarchs since 1862 and welcomes more than 250,000 visitors every year.

'Outrageous'
The news comes after a spokeswoman for Carol Thatcher accused the BBC of being motivated by animosity towards her mother, former prime minister Lady Thatcher.

Typical that they want to pretend that it's about other people hating thatcher rather than thatcher hating other people.

Awwww, your not a hater? It seems that every last thread you post is complaining about someone you hate, though I find Maggie Thatchers daughter an odd choice.

When I said you should buy something nice for yourself, maybe you should have gotten yourself this:
http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/Golly-Gollywo...QQcmdZViewItem

If people like you are trying to erase their existence, I'm sure they will go up in value. Now that I think about it, my wife is sufficiently American Indian for us to be taking down some casino benefits.... maybe we should be launching a suit against Disney for the Pocahontas dolls floating around. After all, American Indians are still discriminated against today in America, and god knows the history is as nearly as bad as that of the African Americans. Too bad she has a day job which helps move our family forward and cant be bothered wasting time trying to suck up tax payer dollars. Then again, she isn't motivated b hatred and self pity, so I guess she wouldn't be a good fit.

Hey, if you ever come to the states you should check out this place:
http://www.sambosrestaurant.com/

I used to eat there all the time as a child(they had a chain of over 1200 restaurants nationwide). The place was named after its founders Sam Battistone and Newell Bohnett, but they made the mistake of capitalizing on the popularity of a childrens book at the time "little black sambo". Though im sure that helped them open many of their 1200 restaurants, later when the word Sambo was dubbed racist, it was the source of their demise, even though the restaraunt was in existence before the word was considered racist. They got sued five ways from Tuesday and now have a single restaraunt in Santa Barbara. Funny, they even had one in Berkely California which is now a Korean Grill.

I digress, but once again, I found an anti-semite using the word racist in application to me humorous. Again, forgive me if I don't cry the owner of Sambos(who later bought the New Orleans Jazz), Margaret Thatcher's daughter, the owners of the Berkeley Korean Grill, you, or any other "racist" a river any time soon.

++Sympathy Points -> Witness the day.

P.S. I think I'm going to make my next million by opening a web site that sells cry towels to liberals.
