For those of you who don't watch Fox News, they just removed Colmbs from the Hannity and Colmbs program. The new show features only Hannity reading hatemail from his many non-fans. He also has a variety of special videos he has put together where he mocks Democrat elected officials, by putting circus music in the background while he subtitles transalations for what it is they are saying.

While some of these folks (Charlie Rangle comes to mind) deserve all the derision he can dish out, it struck me as I changed the channel last night, that Fox just took a big step towards becoming MSNBC. Looking at what MSNBC's lobsided liberal bias, driven by Olbermann and Mathews, has done for their ratings and I have to wonder... WHAT THE HELL IS MURDOC THINKING? If I wanted to have someone preach to me, I'd go to church or flip on MSNBC. Perhaps the saving grace for Fox is the large number of extremely hot blonde talking heads they are giving airtime, but the playboy channel will have them beat on that front for the foreseable future.

If they give Hannity the title "News Anchor" instead of editorial, (Doesnt Mathews have that title at MSNBC?) I'll know the conversion to the dark side is complete.

Hannity does remind me a little of the late-night MSNBC "We Hate Bill O'Reilly Show" that typically causes me to flip away pretty fast. Maybe Fox should just give Ann Coulter her own late night special and be done with it.

Fox was like this way before MSNBC. MSNBC went liberal to counteract the blantant right wing bias of Fox News.

The only problem with the MSNBC model, is that it hasn't been very successful: while Fox News has been very successful. I guess Fox figures they can keep capitalizing on their success as a conservative news station, since there isn't a lot of competition as that, at least not on cable television. So while I'm not likely to watch Hannity's show, I do sort of understand why Fox thinks he should have his own show. Hannity is pretty much the Rush Limbaugh of television, and Rush, as we know, is super successful on radio.

That is also funny, because it presupposes the idea that the "News" portion of what Fox does has any bias whatsoever. You should go out and read a book by Bernie Goldberg, former right hand man to Dan "The Dan" Rather. It's educational on where bias in the media came from.

Fox has been ordained a "Right-wing" media outlet mostly because it refuses to follow the left-wing bias of traditional broadcast media. It rightly deserves the title due to its heavily right-wing weighting in it's prime time and evening commentary segments. I'll give you that MSNBC made changes in its format to counteract the existence of Fox, but that change is better described as the extreme left shirking its guise as unbiased news to openly oppose the only news outlet reporting center-right.

@Wayfarer: You could be right. Going to a pure conservative format assures them an audience for which there in absolutely no competition in the mainstream media. I personally disagree. Ever since they gave Huckabee his own show, and booted Colmes off of Hannity and Colmes, I feel like I'm going to church when I turn on nighttime Fox(outside of the Red-Eye), so I'd just rather leave it off. Until recently, their audience was pretty much 33-33-33 Conservative-Moderate-Liberal. Thats why they had big viewership number. Hell, they have/had Bob Bechel and Dennis Kucinich as contributers, both of which are card carrying, dyed in the wool, pinko commie, koolaide drinking, left wing lunatic nut jobs. This as a contrast to these "Wanna-Be" conservative muppets CNN puts on (MSNBC wont even go there), next to their extreme left wing "News-Anchor" Crew including Jeffry Toobin, Anderson "The token gay guy" Cooper(Probably the most conservative of them), and Wolf Blitzer. John King may be CNN's only guy who tries to stay middle of the road. If Fox continues down this path, their primetime audience will come out 70-20-10(something like MSBC, but opposite) not because they gained conservative viewership, but because they lost the middle and left.
