There will be no modern president that will ever live up to the standards of some that have come before.. I'll just be happy if he doesn't turn out to be the worst..

Every new president seems to be better then the last.

Obama has a LOT of backing right now and lets just hope he doesn't let it seep into his head that "Hes the mofoing president, *****es!!".

I personally like him and i hope to see him go down as one of the better presidents.

The original GW, Lincoln, Jefferson, Kennedy, Polk (for reasons I bet everyone will need to read up on), I would even include Reagan in this group for ending the cold war.. Since Reagan though we haven't had a solid president that the bulk of the country could or would support..

Modern politics and become so polarized that no matter who is in office there will be a significant group that thinks he is a moron..

As for Obama, only time will tell.. I'll be happy if he lives through his term(s).. He is inheriting more than 40 years of problems that all seem to be coming to a head at the same time..

But, until congress is cleaned out, no president will ever be great again.. And I mean "cleaned".. Term limits.. Caps on political funding.. "Truly" independent oversight, the works.. Or maybe just a single round from a M65 during full session..

It could happen, but highly unlikely. When you consider Bush's greatness possibly exceeds that of Reagan and Lincoln (Other great Republican Presidents), the bar is quite high. I'm hopeful though.

Bush Jr. was the worst president we have ever had. If your talking about Bush senior then your points are valid.

Obama will have to work really hard to "fix" what has been made, if he does that then the will be "one of the greats" in president history.

Probably the worst president we ever had was Andrew Jackson, and yet he's on the 20 dollar bill. There's no way you can say the Bush Jr. is as bad as he was. Read his history.

It is hard to measure a mans greatness in comparison to history, but Obama has the potential to become one of the greatest modern presidents. Of course there will be lots of people who like and dislike him.

Don't have to like him to agree if he is great or not.. But if his track record in Chicago is a precursor to his presidency, then he won't be great.. Master of the photo op, but not great.. For the record, one of my best friends lives in Obama's old stomping grounds in Chicago, I heard about him long before he gained national attention..

Obama is in an interesting position where he will either be remembered as a really great president or the worst one ever, I don't think there will be much middle. If he comes in to office and the country gets back on track he will recieve all the praise and people will be using his name among the greats; however, if when he takes office the country worsens or stays the same over a long period of time then I think he could have a lower approval ratting than Bush Jr.

My gut feeling is that the economy will bounce back and things will get better and he will be remembered great.

Ahh you have to like American optimism . Obama is sending all the right signals for me to agree with that statement, which curiously endears him to me. Now to see what he does with the foreign policy.... if he turns the U.S. economy around, but fails to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and a nuke goes off in Israel during his term, he'll still be remembered as an as*hat. He just has to keep Iran from detonating that nuke in Israel until his term is up.....

Guys you have to consider that the same special interest groupd that send millions to mccain also sent the same money to Obama. Like i said, while he will be a bit better then bush, it will probably be more of the same bs .

I think Obama will do a fine job being a president, but I think people are expecting way too much of him. At least he will be a better president then Bush was.
