Can anyone shed any light on the constitutionality of a man who can't vote in general elections voting to represent a state in the US Senate?

On a side note, it's hysterical that Ted Stephens is going around telling his constituents that he hasn't been convicted of a felony, because he plans to appeal his felony conviction. Obviously, the man thinks his base is appallingly stupid.

Kind of like all the other innocent people in prison, I guess? There isn't one guilty person in the whole place! At least Ted is in good company.

Newb, once again you and I agree. This is nonsense. This guy needs to be tossed out on his a*s. On a similar note, it is curious that someone who would never be allowed a security clearance (Barack Obama) due to his associations would be allowed the highest security clearance in the country. The laws should apply evenly to common folk like us and these political elitists.

For those of you who have had a security clearance, you know this is likely true.

Not "likely" true.. It is true..

With the stuff they went through for my wife to get hers, there is no way he can get one.. The lack of a valid birth certificate alone is enough to stop that dead in it's tracks..

Can anyone explain this (extremist) obsession with Obama's driver's license without describing a fishing expedition?

I know. I got drunk with him last month and he told me the only reason why he wanted to become president is to drown the country even faster.

Come on, be sirious with your distruction thiory and please don't assimilate racial origins (as wrong as you can be) with stupid assumptions. Why want to run a country filled of people that you hate?

And you think this is true because? (Again, without describing a fishing expedition)

On that note, what does this smoke screen obsession with Obama's driver's license (handed down from party chiefs, and dutifully obeyed) have to do with Ted Steven's felony conviction? The one that cost him his right to vote.

How cool is it that Harriet Miers Sarah Palin voted for "Uncle Ted"? Those America hating Alaskans are funny.

It's so simple..

Provide a legal long form birth certificate.. Is there some reason why he "shouldn't" be obligated to show one?? McCain showed his the day after he was asked for it.. He was born in Panama for those that didn't know..

OK, you just outlined the fishing expedition I asked you to avoid. Basically, what you're saying is that you have no reason whatsoever to suspect Obama isn't a citizen. When you find one, I'll take your extremism more seriously. Until then, why don't you prove McCain isn't a child molester - there's exactly the same amount of evidence to support both theories.

Yes. US law and our Constitution. Both of which are hated by Republicans and Conservatives.

Again, nice off topic smoke screen. Please stay on topic in the future.

The felon Ted Stevens has a slight lead in his race for the senate, thanks in small part to Sarah Palin's vote.

Can you show me in the Constitution where it says you don't have to be able to prove you are a natural born citizen of the US to run for President?? There is no reason to prove McCain is not a child molester since it is impossible to prove a negative and ther has been no legitimate charge that he is.. But it's reasonable to ask someone to prove that they are a US Citizen..

It's not a fishing expedition.. There are legitimate reasons to question his legal ability to run.. Traveling on a Philippines Passport as a Philipinno citizen not the least of them..

But that's ok, you can pretend that it doesn't matter.. It's only the Constitution we are talking about.. You know, the one you say you find more important than I do..

Logical consistency. Learn to use it. Then go read that Constitution. Then, finally, learn to stay on topic. As you said " and ther has been no legitimate charge that he is.. But it's reasonable to ask someone to prove that they are a US Citizen.." thar alsa aint ben kno legetemit cherge what for Obama taint kno sitizen nether. (That's Republicanese.)

The topic of this thread is Ted Stevens, and the legality of a man who's been stripped of his right to vote serving in the United States Senate. I'll ask you once more to please stay on topic.
