Hi all

I have built a website for a client, using Wordpress.

The client says that it will not load on some PCs and he is asking for all his money back. I checked the site on Firefox, IE and Chrome and it displayed well.

Has anyone ever had this before?

The url is www.used-cars-peterborough.co.uk

Please help!

S.

Sometimes this happens because of the web hosting misconfiguration. You should contact them by phone or e-mail and they`ll be able to solve the problem. It can`t be because of php.

The home page loads very slowly here 12 seconds for page to fully load, tested in FF and IE8.

I see you're running a lot of javscript so it's possible that some conflicts may be stalling IE and delaying page load. Try disabling all javascript then enabling one script at a time until it falls over, that might give you a clue as to where to look.

Maybe where he lives they blocked your hosting.

I have heard that in china they block American or UK hosting companies IP's since the government controls what since there citizens can go on.

I dont know, where are you located?

I've tried to load it a couple of times using FF 3.5.4 and IE 8 without any problems. Where there was alot of pictures the textual content loaded fast and the pictures came a few seconds after. All in all, my longest load time was around 8-9 seconds.

You have some crapware or a bad plugin on that site. It locked up IE7 and took my cpu usage to 100% and kept it there. I was forced to close all open browsers to exit.

Edit: The stange thing is that it had 2 IE occurences open for your site. I had to force close them both and this one to clean up the mess.

Had to force quit when loading in IE 6.

The only thing I could reccomend, is quickly set up a new wordpress site (shouldn't take all THAT long since wordpress is cake) and then copy the content / pages over to that to see if it works.

I think it's a plugin issue, but by no means am I an expert.

Seems like a crappy setup on DNS, not surprising from Heart Internet though 'cos their own DNS servers are somewhat overloaded and unresponsive,

Would you care to expand on the first half of your statement? I might learn something.

I should add that I got a partial page load before the lockup. I suspect it was the right div below the nav section where the problem was.

I'm getting nslookup failures, but can ping the IP, I also get intermittent DNS failures when checking load times with webbug.

And it has taken several lookups to cache the DNS to my local server.

I thought you were referring to the page hanging problem. Your comment makes sense now.

You really are a man of few words.
