hello, i'm new to php/ftp - im making a school website and its need to be done as soon as possible. i've worked a lot with HTML. i'm the new webmaster - the person who started the website has done it via ftp/php and i had to create a new page so i done that - got the hyperlink and images i wanted to work but i'm having trouble applying the current template to the new page i've created. can someone please tell me how to do it because the new page is already there people can view and it doesn't match the other pages. the other person said that the templates are for the php, based on Smarty templating engine. i can't work this out!!??

please i need this quick....... if the info given is not enough let me know

thank you

Hi Tears,

Welcome to WMT.

The fact that it uses the Smarty template engine should make this task alot easier for you, so that is good news. But Smarty's file structure can be setup in a number of differeny ways.. to help you we are going to need to see the directory structure of the current website, if you can get us that then we can probably sort something out.

cheers,

ok I'm up with the structure now, thats all good. And your trying to apply your new template to the entire site, am I correct?

If so, then it looks to me that you need to put your new design into the default.htm.. make sure you back everything up first of course.

If thats not what your trying to do, what are we aiming for?

cheers again,

do i need to create a page in contents too, as well as in templates directory. i mean the page in the templates directory should only consist of the template code and the page in contents - only having the data i want on the page. is this what i need to do? because i've tried that and still no luck!
