Hi
Can u please help me to configure Apache for me
I dont know anything about it.
I downloaded version 2 windows installer from its website
to test my php pages.
But i dont know how to use it.
I clicked the installer and it is installed in my Program files
While installation it asked me to give domain name
,server name, webmaster email address and asked something about port
i didnt changed it and provided the other information as it asked

Now in the windows 98 (I dont have PWS)
task bar near clock i can see the icon for apache it call it self
Apache Service Monitor and says no service installed.

I want to test my pages to see if they work fine, but dont know in which folder
to place them and how to test them

I tried to read documentation but it was beyond my undersatanding.

So can u please tell me steps in simple language to what to do
to test my pages

Regards

benevolent,

Not sure what you mean by the documentation, but it's pretty straightforward. As you install Apache, it asks you whether you want to install Apache as a service. If you did, you are most likely running on port 80 (the default).

Point your browser to
http://localhost

If you see the Apache screens, you have installed it correctly.

Find your htdocs and put your pages there. If you create a subdirectory in htdocs called MyPages and in that directory put index.html, the URL for that would be
http://localhost/MyPages/index.html

Well i tried Apache and Win 98 and it wouldn't work so i found another server software thing. Its called Abyss Web Server. Its realy easy to use and is made for develpment of web sites. The console has all the info step by step to install php and perl on the server and it was running within 3 mins for me.

The site is:

http://www.aprelium.com/

Oh and just so u know it uses 8MB's of RAM, its so small and it works just right for a development web server.
