Very good point Chroder. I have a bad taste for MS for web services ever since I happened to have a client why back who's hosting company (XO) was horrible when it came to managed servers. Their Windows 2000 machine with SQL crashed almost monthly (it especially liked holidays), was hit by Code Red, Slammer, and a couple of other nasties (host didn't install any patches at all ... of course they also charged for database backups which it turned out they were not doing).
It probably is more accurate to say there are a wealth bad hosts providing Microsoft services. MS gets a bad name because of them. MS products kept properly up to date with recent patches can be as secure as other systems... it's just an over abundance of MS users not patching that creates the real issues with MS.
