John try these scripts from the PHP Resource Index. Some will be pay, but there are probably a good amount of free ones too.

The free ones might not be complete and sometimes you have to edit them a little to get them to do what you want, but I've found a lot of good starts in there.

I linked directly to the page on editor scripts, but check out the whole site since there are many more scripts for a variety of things.

There is a good one called TinyMCE, it's free and you can get add-ons to upgrade and enhance it the way you want it. It's also easy to integrate with php forms, all you have to do is include the javascript in the page of the form and it works (Javascript is provided for you in the instructions for the wysiwig editor).
