if your going for social bookmarking sites, avoid spamming, and prove that your site ain't just a trash... or expect it to be banned, while in social networking site.. all you have to do is gain a lots of friends, keep in touch with them and update them on what you were doing.. a great way to increase traffic in your website..

1. Create a profile
2. Include your link in your profile
3. Do not promote your site but concentrate on providing value by Digging stuff related to your content or stumbling stuff related to your content
4. Make friends with others who have Digged/Stumbled same pages as you have
5. Creating value and having friends is the best way of getting traffic from social media as that will do most of the work for you, without you needing to digg/submit your own pages

If I'm not wrong, you DON'T get traffic from social networking sites.

You WILL get traffic if your site is worth the 'news', otherwise, it's just backlink.
