so I'm on the 6th page of this thread, and all I see are "Twitter is cool!" "Twitter is a micro-blogging..."

Hmm... so what about Twitter? How about significant opinion on what you guys think of the community? I mean there came a time that Twitter was actually on a downward spiral. Anybody remember that? Twitter was going down and Plurk was rising up to the occasion. And then Twitter got back up on its feet, or should I say fixed their wings, again. Heh.

I haven't been as addicted to Twitter as I would have liked but I admit that following celebrities of every kind (writers, actors, directors, artists..) make Twitter very interesting for me.

Hmm? Check pages 1, 2, and 5 of this thread. I think I left a lot of comments with much more than "Twitter is cool"

The thing with the community at Twitter is it's different for each of us. It depends on who you follow and who follows you. Twitter wasn't on any downward spiral when Plurk started up. It was just another microblogging site and people checked it out. Twitter was still pretty strong at the time. Twitter has certainly grown since then, but it was hardly on its way down.

The community really does come down to the individual. You mention following celebrities. I generally don't follow celebrities. That means you and I are spending time with different communities within Twitter and as a result will have different experiences with the service.

A lot of your own enjoyment and usefulness with something like Twitter comes down to you. You have the ability to shape your own experience with it.

Celebrities would be the very LAST thing I would follow on twitter if I had it. I think we are over saturated with "celebrity" - they're all over the internet, in magazines, on "reality" shows, radio...you name it - they're there and now it' looks like for some wierd reason are now considered "news" by the media.
