helo, i've just joined the site, i work voluntary fro a local childrens charity which offers, a pre-school, full day care, baby car and out of school breakfast and kids club for older children. Our income relys solely on parental fees and donations,

I am currently working on a website which will include the services we offer, current updates and newsletters etc also i would like to set up a paypal option where people can make a donation.

I was wondering if anyone had done such a website for a local school or childrens organisation and wether there are rules in place, obviously nowadays our children have to be protected and we can't go posting photos of them all over the internet. But was wondering if there are any other types of restrictions.

The site will mostly be for parents to access. it will only be advertised locally and to parents.

Any suggestions would be most helpful

Thank you

Outside of the pictures of the children, I don't know of any other rules. The school itself might have some stipulations, but you should not run in to any legal issues for a site about the school. Paypal donations are a good idea as well.

You want to stay away from children's names being posted too. I beleive there are laws for that also.

I work for a school and it seems that you can have names and you can have pictures BUT not together.

For example you could not have john smiths picture with his name under it.

Also make sure that the parents have signed a permission form for pictures of their children to be placed on the web. We have a few parents of children where I work (UK) who have said they don't want pictures of their children on the school website

Read up about the COPPA law (children's online privacy protection act) as you should be aware of that as well.

i think its a great idea to have the school but to have the name even if the parents sign permission dont do it....i think censorship laws come into play, i wouldnt want my name and childs name on there...for obvious privacy reasons.
