I hit level 3 and almost made it to level 4 in Yahoo Answers.

Many of my answers were picked as the best answer. Each time I would put a link in the source section. I even linked to a BLOG that has no other advertising then a couple AdSense ads.

But yesterday I got a notice that 2 of my answers were pulled and my account was banned for advertising.

My guess is that someone went through and put flags on all posts with a link in the source.

Interesting how a post that was considered best answer multiple times is now considered advertising.

Anyone else use or have problems with Yahoo Answers?

Michael

Was this someone else's blog that you linked to, or yours?

Many people are trying to use yahoo and google answers as a free way to promot their websites, which is not what these services were intended for.

If you answers begin to look shady to the point that they usually contain a link directing to the same website or group of websites, then you will most likely be banned eventually.

Do you think it was because you used it to advertise?

Google answers and yahoo answers now realise that this has become a breeding ground for spammers and has ruined the chances for people like us to profit from this.

Just create another account and help people out and dont go spreading your link every two senteces LOL :-) just put them here and there and put them in every 3rd or 4th post. You shouldn't get in trouble for that....im thinking it was you quanity of url to posts that got flagged.

I agree. If it was a well-put together website, people would not suspect spam.
When you post links about a site that does not look too professional or too popular, that's a red flag.

It's wierd.. yahoo seems to ban people for the stupidest things... I wasn't banned.. but this has no relavence with yahoo answers.. I used Yahoo Publisher network all last year and made over $300k with yahoo ...I didn't do anything to jeopardize my account... I always made sure I did the right thing when I changed things around and when I got a ok from the guys at YPN I made it live... Then they take my ad targeting away.. I of course ad targeted ads that had no relevance with what was on my site, but people clicked on them without trickery... honest clicks... but then when they took it away I didn't get anything in relevance...I as getting on average 5,000 clicks a day and when it was taken away I was getting on average 300 clicks a day! And the kicker is that they tell people in the CP in the little "Tip for Publishers" at the bottom and I quote...

Quote:
Tips for Publishers

Question: Is there an easy way to better target my ads to match the interests of my users?

Answer: Yes. You can use the Ad Targeting tool to target ads based on your users' interests. Simply go to the Ad Targeting page under the Ad Setup tab and use the drop down menus to select from 20 categories and 109 subcategories. Then type your target URL into the dialog box and click Save. Once saved, you'll be able to manage categories for each of your targeted URLs. For more information on Ad Targeting, review our FAQs.
Well I targeted ads to the interest of my users... so I did what they say here.. but I got my ad targeting taken away... don't make any sense...

WOW Yahoo bans people for posting legitimate answers to questions people ask? That's pretty stupid. I thought that's what the people posting the questions wanted???
