A lot of people are under the assumption that business cards now days are close to obsolete. This, however, is far from true. Business cards is a primary and greatly beneficial way of promoting your business, services, and/or product.

Why don't we step it up a notch now though? I'm sure a lot of you have heard about the buzz of QR Codes. QR codes can be read directly from most smart phones now days and bring up whatever the user wants it to be. This could be a direct link to your website, a resume, or even product information in detail. Having a business card is still a great way of promotion and now adding a QR Code to the back for people to scan with more detail can also help in promotional efforts.

This is a great idea visiontree, especially for those involved in doing business with the Japanese market.

Here are some great inspirations

Thank you for sharing those images on this thread Shey. Hopefully they will go to show other people how much QR code is being used more and more each day. Especially in foreign markets (foreign from US anyways).

I plan on opening a business myself very soon, and a QR code on a business card might seem like an addition, but soon I feel like it will be a necessity.

Depends on your market, how much networking you do etc.

Personally I have never got a client from giving away a business card. Remember it is always better to get their business card then you can follow up 100% of the time.

If you do use a card, remember to provide a clear offer and call to action.

I still use business cards. The old fashioned clients always ask for them so I keep putting in orders for new boxes of cards. The newer generation seem to like free t-shirts instead.

Doesn't make sense to use business cards. Use your twitter handle. So much easier.

Business cards are far far away form being obsolete. It's only people's way of thinking that are becoming limited and closed-minded. The QR code idea is definitely awesome, especially now that smart phones are just starting their rise into their peak.

I agree that business cards are FAR from obsolete. There are many times you're interacting with someone away from the computer (assuming you leave the house) and you want to get attention to your site/business. I have two types of business cards I carry, one that is professional with my contact info and everything, the other I call a "throw down" card. It just has a QR code on one side and the URL of my website on the other. I leave them on the counter when I'm at the coffee shop, throw it down at a bar, put it in the corner of the mirror in the men's room, etc. You'd be surprised how much traffic these things generate. It's guerrilla marketing, but it's doing the job. Just make sure whatever card you get it has a QR code somewhere on it. Even homeless people have smart phones these days. And make sure your "professional" card looks cool. If you use some cookie cutter design template people will toss it as soon as you turn around. It's your chance to make a first impression and you want them to hold on to it.

Honestly speaking, I don't have any business card. I have a plan to create business card when my business will be expanding... At this stage, I think I can't afford it . But, I believe each and every businessman should have business card.
