Good advice Content Writers. Using the press to your advantage is good publicity but some sites just don't fit into that. My site is good but not something they would show on the local news. Unless I did some kind of charity event or something (which may be happening down the road a little). One other way to use the press is for "negative publicity". A wild stunt or something that gets media attention will at least get the name out. One marketing guy I know suggested finding an urban artist and pay him to spray paint my logo into a mural on the side of a building. It would get attention, and get the name out, but I think that's a little too in the negative side for what I want.

OK, a little update. I printed up some bumper stickers. They're like half size, 4"x5" with the company logo and the URL on them. I went the other day to an area near a local university since that crowd is right in my demographic and put a bunch of the stickers out. Put them on street signs, in the parking lots of some of the bars, etc. From checking Google Analytics, I wasn't getting any traffic from that area before, now I am, and quite a bit too. It's a pain in the butt and a lot of running around but it seems to have a payoff. I ran the numbers and of the stickers I put out and my cost was about $5.25 (not including gas to drive over there or my time). With the traffic I'm getting from it there's no way I would have gotten that from traditional advertising. Tonight I'm hitting another area to try it there. I'll let you know how it goes.

I am member of of the university youth organization and we use Gorilla marketing for the full program! Pens, t-shirts, posters, caps, bumper stickets, stamps on notebooks and stands still, we painted the asphalt near the body of the faculty, it works ver good but i agree that this is expenceve enough.

A friend of mine does off link marketing where he prints big stickers. and he sticks them to his Van and goes to public place and park it for hours...
I think this is really cool idea.
