We thought we would try something a little different (say thanks to Prissed) and let our members vote on newest Webmaster-Talk.com forum!

Please vote the the next forum you would most likely like to see:

1. Javascript forum (under coding talk).
2. eCommerce/Business and Legal Issues
3. A forum for members submitted articles or tutorials
4. Computer / PC Help

You are welcome to add any additional comments.

To be honest, I think that both of the first two categories are very important and should be covered here. Personally, I would benefit much more from a forum relating to business issues, and that is why I voted for that above a JavaScript forum.

However, I think that having a JavaScript forum (or, even better, a client-side scripting forum that covered JavaScript, VBScript, etc.) would be very useful, as it is an important part of the design process that doesn't yet have its own forum here.

Why not just make two new ones? I'd be pretty active in the business section, and judging by how many posts are current in the "Coding - All the rest" forum, the JavaScript/client-side scripting forum would probably take off quickly as well.

I think a java forum may be nice, but i think most java questions arise from things html, php etc. can't do and therefore would be answered in those sections rather than a dedicated section.

I think a articles and tutorials forum would be nice and also a business and ecommere one!

Can we have two>?

Tough choice but I decided to vote for ecommerce./legal. Truthfully, any or all of those would be nice additions.

Thanks for allowing me the input.

Cheers,

I agree any or all of those additions would be nice. This was a tough one for me...albeit a published author, my articles are usually about business and legal issues.

Thank you to the owners/mods for letting us have a voice in the final decision.

Thank you Prissed.

I'd say Javascript would be nice. Its hard to find GOOD JS sources of information.

I think JavaScript would be the most widely preferred, but I would like a Tutorial and Article site. So I'll vote for JS.

Would the Tutorials and Articles forum have a specific topic? Or would it be any articles to do with Web Design/Coding/Hosting etc.

A little bit of insight as to why we are doing it this way...

First, the members make up our community here. Without you, we wouldn't be here. Which is why we are giving you the opportunity to vote on the new forum. After all, you will be the ones participating in the new forum. There's no sense in us adding a new forum that nobody wants.

Second, yes it was my idea to vote on one forum...many are asking why not add two or three or all. Here's why:

A lot of you may not have been around long enough, but those of you who have been here a while remember when we split up our coding and design forums. We went from (roughly) 4 coding and design forums to 12 fourms. We split the forums up into specific topics which, in the end, turned out great. However, the new forums were slow to pick up a couple of months after adding them.

We (at least, I) wanted to avoid the dead-forum syndrome again. Baby steps. K.I.S.S. Whatever else you refer to it as.

But bottom line - we're trying to keep it simple, and trying not to jump the gun.

Sounds like a reasonable plan. Add one, let it get incorporated, then at a later date add another......

I voted for eCommerce/Business and Legal Issues section but all of them would be great. I think a Traffic Tutorial / Help / Tips section would also be one that people might want to use. I know I can help people get learn how to get more hits and would also like to read how other people do aswell.

well as i suggested once before i dont understand why there isnt an adobe illustrator forum. out of all those choices above id pick the ecommerce one tho. always been curious how people make money off their sites. i dont use many (hardly any) javascripts, and dont even venture into them. there are like a bazillion tutorials out there that i doubt id read a tutorial forum on here. computer pc help is pretty worthless to me also as im on a mac and i dont have pc computer problems very (hardly ever) often.

Just a quick post to bump this thread.

As for not having an illustrator forum, we may suggest one in the future, but we did poll our members to see which programs they use. Photoshop and PSP came up the most. While I use Illustrator some now, I don't use it near as much as I did when I worked for a print shop.

But who knows. Maybe in the future, there will be a bigger demand for it. But for now, you can always post in the misc graphics fourm.

I totally agree, e-commerce and business would be most useful I think but all the others would provide a great deal of help as well.
