Apparently the owners of Freelancer.com don't understand the power of a name, and the importance of an Internet brand to its dedicated users, especially in the case of a social community!
Let's use an extreme example... if Facebook changed its name to Gaybook, would you continue using it (assuming you're straight)?
Some would, yes, because the content amassed by Facebook is still very valuable, but countless masses would form an exodus from Facebook (back to MySpace, likely), because they no longer identify with the brand.
Equivalently, web designers and developers cannot identify with a "Tycoon" brand, because they don't envision themselves as Tycoons.
Further, BYE BYE SEO - you've already dropped a couple spots in SERPs, and you'll drop even more when you change the <title> of the forum to something other than "Web Design Forums" in a misguided attempt to broaden your userbase.
The good news is it's not to late to undo it, though I am fairly certain my advice is falling on deaf ears, considering the failure of Freelancer to even respond to the vast negative response to the change.
All in all utter fail in brand revision. Mark my words.
Cheers.
