Webmaster-Talk.com has been reviewed and chosen to bear the 2002-2003 Golden Web Award!

I put the award at the bottom of each page (probably for a limited time).

I wonder how easy it is to get this award? I suspect not to incredible hard (not to say our forum isnt great)

Not to burst your buble but, I have a feeling that the whole golden web award is a bit shady . I've seen many garbage sites with the award posted up, and have heard that the whole thing is just a commercial gimmick. If anyone knows anything about this please post.

However this doesn't mean that this website isn't any good. On the contrary, I've been following it for some time and find it to be informative, good job guys!

Hey ajae.

Welcome to Webmaster-Talk. I'm glad you finally joined

About GoldenWeb....

Well, you are probably right. That is one reason I decided to remove the award they gave me from the site. I just found the site and thought I might as well submit the site. At least I was not rejected But maybe some of those not so nice sites that have the award may have just stole it...

Gotta agree with ajae.com

I once submitted a doorway page and they 'awarded' me the 'prize'

Buggers!

Yeah, I agree. I think they're just giving it to anyone who applies for it.

But of course, that doesn't mean that this forum isn't any good. It's a great forum!

Hi ajae, Chief, and AhmedF,

I do agree with all of you that this "Golden Web Award" thing is shady. I certainly have seen quite a few garbage sites that won the award, and I am pretty positive that they didn't steal it either. Their "quality standard" is just too low to compete with ours here at Webmaster-Talk.

Yeah I think so too. Got to be really careful about these awards things. I once had an award for cat sites.

However, I didn't just give it out to anyone. The design had to be at least good and the content excellent.

Of course back then my site design wasn't that hot. Now that I am designing better I have a new set of site standards LOL.

My site just got this award ... First I was very suprised ... But now I guess I have to agree with you guys. 95% of all Winners looks like Front Page creations of people who just started thier web journey

Absolutely! I totally agree...

To tell you the truth, I'm amazed at how good their site looks (it would get around an 8 from me), yet how low their standards are (some sites would get as low as a 2 or a 3). I do have pretty strict standards, however.
