I remember there use to be red bold lettering in the post reply box that said no affiliate links allowed.

They removed my reply affilaite link so they are still not allowed. I think its stupid that for my efforts to use my time consulting others in the net I will not benefit at all. There is difference SPAM'ing and using affilaite link in the answer the question where the person is seeking actual answer to the problem. Another stupidity is that when I have written an article to my blog about the topic discussed publishing link to that article is considered "self promotion"??? I will get most of my readers from forum posts (otherwise my articles does not show up in my blog anyway) so how this can be self promotion?
As my time is limited I have considered to cancel my membership on those forums where my help isn't tolerated and concentrate on those where I can help others. There has been no such kind of problems in LinkedIn Answers, YoungEntrepreneur.com, Bloggeries.com and probably I will start my own forum for those whose attention is to help other internet entrepreneurs and getting commisioned thru affiliate programs without spamming.

yes but if they allow them then this place will lose its helpfulness. Digital Point could really be a good resource but I have to wade through so many "get money here" "I know how you can make money" That I am becoming disappointed in it really. I am so tired of reading a long post and in the end it is some silly affiliate link that is nothing but it gets them paid and I just wasted 10 minutes of my life.

Why you are then spending this 10 minutes reading long posts?
Why you are clicking then those links "I know how to make money" if the post wasn't helpful at all?
I do not click to the links that I do not have interest and do not read posts that are boring.

I don't allow affiliate links on my sites either, I don't see why I should host a page for you to make more money off of it then I do
We are allowed sig links, you can link to your site that has your own affiliate links on it..

That's just my view and isn't targeted at anyone.. you in a general term..

cheers

I hate to keep bringing up a bad vive, but it seems whenever I check the new post here, 50% are spammers with referral links
Can a " no live links till X post" hack be implemented here ?

cheers
