This is a guide for Talkupation from the earlier version (revisited, revised, and rewritten).
What is Talkupation?
The Talkupation (i.e. reputation) system on Webmaster-Talk.com allows our members to leave comments about one anothers' posts, and thereby contribute to their overall 'talkupation'. Your Talkupation number is based from the votes and opinions of other forum users that choose
to use the system.
Why should I use Talkupation?
When a post has been exceptionally helpful or insightful, you should give Talkupation to the poster. Try to spread the Talkupation around to those that have been helpful. You don't need to use all your Talkupation points in a single day, and giving them away for less than exceptional posts may use up your points for when you find those good ones. However, you should use them to show other members that you appreciate their help or insight.
Talkupation works best when people earn it. If you give out TP too casually the whole system becomes less meaningful. There are no hard and fast rules about what kind of comment deserves Talkupation. You have to decide that for yourself, but please treat the system with respect and try to give it for what you consider exceptionally helpful or insightful.
Treating the system with respect becomes more and more important as you have more Talkupation to give. If too much TP is flooded into the system it makes the value of every point of Talkupation that much less.
It is also possible to give out negative Talkupation. Negative Talkupation should be reserved for those posts that have a negative impact on the community, such as spam and flaming. You should not give negative Talkupation because you disagree with an opinion, differences of techniques, etc.
As mentioned before, this system should be treated with respect and it's very important to use it in a responsible manner.
Do not abuse the system. Admin and Moderators can see who has given or taken talkupation and how many times. If we find that you have abused the system by artificially inflating your buddies Talkupation (or artificially deflating someone you just don't like) without
good reason you will lose your privilege to use the system.
How do I know what My Talkupation level is?
To see your Talkupation
number level, place your mouse over the text "Talkupation:" to the left of the green
square(s) (found under your username and avatar in posts). It may take a moment for the number to appear.

Your talkupation number level and title may change over time based on how your posts are scored by other forum participants.
How do I give Talkupation?
Members with the ability to affect talkupation (members with a talkupation
under 10 can not give or take talkupation from others), may either give or take aways points by approving or disapproving with a post's content. You may optionally leave a nice comment (the member will appreciate it). Click the
"Helpful post? Add to my Talkupation" text on the specific members post you wish to give Talkupation.
What do the numbers mean?
All new members start with a number level of 10 and is "
is on a distinguished road."
The next levels are at 30, 150, 250, 350, 450, 550, 650, 1000, 1500, and 2000. You will have to reach each level to find out what each one says (mouse over the green
square(s) when your number reaches a new level).
How much Talkupation number can I give?
You start off being able to give or take 1 point (Admins can of course give or take more).
For every
150 days of registration, you gain 1 point of Talkupation-altering power.
For every
250 posts, you gain 1 point of Talkupation-altering power.
For every
250 points of Talkupation you have, you gain 1 point of Talkupation-altering power.
You can only give 5 Talkupation votes over each 24 hour period.
You must give 6 different users Talkupation to before you can hit the same person again.
How do I disable Talkupation?
So you don't want Talkupation on your account? Just go into your User CP and click on "Edit Options". From there, you can choose to uncheck "Show My Talkupation Level".
