I just thought others might find this useful. I received my free copy back at the release by attending the ready to rock tour.

Wow - this is fantastic! Thanks for the link. I've been using C# Express Edition forever, and will definitely be taking advantage of this. Even though Orcas will be released soon...

No problem, I'm always keeping my eye out for freebies from MS. I would have Office 2007 standard right now except on the day of release tour conference in Albany, NY it snowed here like 2 feet so I got to spend the day shoveling myself out instead.

This might sound stupid but, what is the difference between VS 2005 and VS 2005 Express?

There is a matrix that explains all the differences between all their VS products.

Visual Studio is the best IDE there is, and Standard ( compared to Express ) has Visio built in. It can reverse engineer your code into a diagram to help you explain it (understand it?), but you can also draw the diagrams and autogen the code.

Rep has been added to Republikin for sharing this resource - everyone else should thank him this way.

I don't know if its the best. I use it for C++ and assembly programming but if I want to code up some java I open up eclipse (something about using J# makes me feel dirty). My professor once referred to it as 'bloatwear' because it has everything in it, but I don't know if it is the best at everything.

Well, assembly language is like a stealth bomber, C++ is a race car at worst or maybe a Boeing jet, and then any other kind of programming is horse and buggy. If you're used to coding with the petal to the metal then "bloatware" could easily describe .NET applications or even the IDE itself.

But for people who don't have that background, C# rocks.
