I personally find myself using AdBrite more than any other network. I also use AdsDaq.
I'm a big fan of Google, but a passionate enemy of AdSense. It's a poorly run network where you'll find yourself banned without ever knowing why - all of your earnings gone, etc. It's far too sensitive. One wrong move and everything you've worked for has been wasted. You're better off with a more stable network like AdBrite. I've received higher earnings from them, anyway. So really it's a win-win situation.
AdsDaq is another great network I use, but it's a contextual network - so it scans the text on your page to try and deliver targeted advertisements. This is a relatively uncommon method these days. They have a nice payment system, but the earnings are substantially lower on some sites, and unbelievably higher on others. I find AdsDaq to work wonders for forums and things of that nature.
Affiliate Marketing is great if you have a very targeted site. For example, if I created a website about the xBox 360 - I would definitely use affiliate marketing rather than anything else. You can target your specific audience and try to sell them things that you know they want/need. The earnings are very high when it comes to affiliate marketing as well. However, for a more general website, blog or forum, I wouldn't recommend taking this route.
