Can you be penalized by using text-link-ads?

I found text-link-ads.com website on google. The site itself has PR7 and is ranked very good on SERP too. I was wondering, is it safe to participate in text link ads program as publisher, or it is illegal according to Google>?

Yeah be natural avoid buying links if not needed.

Google and text-link-ads does not have a good relationship. As far as I know there was a lawsuit between them. Its not only text-link-ads you should not buy links as a general rule.

But thats not all of the story. Google also mentioned they realize how buying ads for marketing is important for webmasters. I would say try to buy personally contacting the webmasters.
