Domain Names

I have a website idea all planned out... The domain that I am looking for is allready taken with the .com but not the .net. I checked the web address and found that they hadn't done anything and had left it parked. If I used keyword.net while somone else has keyword.com could I get into any legal trouble?

Unless that keyword is copyrighted, you should be okay.
And if that keyword is copyrighted, it's still unlikely for anything bad to happen.

Try to buy the .com before doing anything. Ask them how much they want for it. If you develop the .net then many of your visitors will accidentally type in the .com, giving the .com owner free traffic at your expense.

It's better to pay now if you can get it for a good price.
