Hey people

I have a number of sites and I want to make a central business front, and of course for this I want a domain name, something with media in it.

I have spent a long time coming up with domain names, but they are all taken (so far). Annoyingly many are taken, but there are no sites there.

Now for my question:
Would it be okay if i added "inc" to the end of the domain name, like webogsinc.com. Of course I will not by microsoftinc.com or something like that lol, but if the domain I wanted is registered, would it be okay to add inc?

Thanks for your help,
Matt

I would not recommend adding inc to the end. I am a domainer foremost and from my experience it will not go well. If you want, PM me and when I get back I can help you out.

Thanks for your reply , I thought it might not be a smart idea. The only time I am tempted to use it is if the domain name has been taken and for sale for many years with no real site there.

Thanks for offering the help, I will keep that in mind, cheers

Hi Ma2T, my 2 cents: The shorter, the better. So I would go without the "inc" at the end. Or register both and redirect the longer to the shorter.

If you can go without the letters inc @ the end then do it.. Otherwise find an alternative name. Just keep looking I know you'll find something.

Why don't you just go to Sedo and select a cool *media* name from there? If you get revenue out of your projects, or if you plan to be successful, then money shouldn't be a problem. Anyway, it's better to pay money and buy good domain name, then having "inc" and reducing your domain name success.

If you own abcinc.com, your clients and potential clients will type in abc.com instead, and find either an unrelated site, or a competitors site. That would not be good for you and is certainly not worth your advertising dollars.

My advice is also to either pay for one that is unique or keep looking. They are definitely still out there. Also, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a .com. It's the most popular extension and if you get a .net, .biz, .us, etc, you will face the same problem as adding the inc to your domain. People will type in the .com domain instead and you will waste your advertising dollars.

There are cases where other extensions can work well for you, but it will take a lot more work any way you slice it.

Many thanks for all your advice people, it's all good and makes sense to me. I also agree with the .com, for most of my sites I would prefer a .com but it's not my highest priority, but for this site, I very much want a .com

Thanks again.
