Hi All,
I want to get your opinion on something. I am thinking about writing a blog about a pay site. The site is made up of 50% public content and 50% private. The private portion of the site consists of proprietary information and an active forum of users commenting on that information.
My idea is to blog about the site. It has a huge following and I think the members would be interested in how I have been successful following some of the site's suggestions. I need to be careful never to reveal the exactly products they recommend, but I think I can handle that.
Will it be ok to comment about what some of the user's say in the forums. For example, if Jack says "I think that's a horrible idea", could I say why it is not a horrible idea on my blog. I know I can't copy Jack's post to my blog, but would it be legal to quote a sentence or two of it even though it was posted in the forum? Do the users have an expectation of privacy? Or many I can just not write the username?
Anyway, I am a huge fan of the site and believe I can drive new users to become members of the website. I also think it will be a niche for me since there are no reviews of the site yet. However, I certainly don't want to do anything illegal.
