So I have been working on a lovely Color Pallet called jsColorPallet, and just was looking to see if any of you want to test it out and see if you get any bugs. Currently I don't have any documentation up for you to read on how to use it, but the code is very well commented to help you out as well as the download comes with a working demo of it to look at the code. If after testing out you feel like using it in your own project feel free to.

The website can be reached at eather:

http://jscolorpallet.skeletaldesign.net

If you come across any bugs the whole project is being managed at google code.

As well as there is a Google Group started if you want to join to get updates.

I thank you in advance.

Can you explain a situation where you would need something like this, I'm trying to think of a situation that this would be good to use, but I can't think of one, I was thinking maybe BBCode font coloring and highlighting, but using a text field isn't the best means in this situation but changing it for this type of situation is not hard at all.

The colours presented have quite a small selection area, so I think the best method would instead of automatically filling the field with onclick, is to display a larger preview area that shows the colour you selected and to fill the field with that colour on whether they click an OK for it or Cancel/Close to forget selection.

I'm not sure what pallete is being used, is this the 216 web colours? It would be good if custom palletes could be used too, possibly having a list of palletes that can be selected, as well as being able to create your own palletes. I just discovered the toggle pallete, so adding other palletes should not be that hard either but possibly a quicker means of getting to those specific palletes.

Should also allow the different formats, e.g. rgb(), #hex etc.

Anyways good luck with this.

Cheers,

MC

I actual like a lot of your ideas. Currently adding in a pallet is as easy as creating an array of the colors you want. I want to in a future release give the ability to just pass the array into the initilization and it would be added to the selection of pallets. Ptentaily a name for the color pallet would be nice to have as well. So when you click the toggle button a list pops up to select the color pallet.

For the diffrent formats i'm not sure but I'm thinking eather having another pallet added with that format or maybe in the initilization you can pass it a string for your format you want to display. Maybe even both might be nice.

Just to answer your question on situations to use this in. The original idea for this came about when I was builing a very basic CSS editor for those who don't know CSS. So the idea was if they wanted to change a text color or background color. They would just click the field and get a pallet to help pick from otherwise they could just enter the value if they knew it. I plan on in the future just having it return back to you a color. So you could handle the value how ever you want.

If you have anymore ideas I would love to hear them, and I thank you for the ones you gave me.
