Hi Guys,

Whew, I'm frustrating myself beyond belief here. Truth be told, I've never done anything with Java before - ever. My limits are HTML and CSS and that's about it. I have a lot to learn, this I know, but all of my attempts at it these last few days have done nothing but frustrate me. So here I am...hoping some of you gurus out there may be able to shed some light on this in a way that a newbie can understand and learn from.

Here's what I'm trying to do: I'm working with a non-profit animal shelter that makes customized collars, leashes, harnesses, etc. for sale and they need an order form for these products. Although I've never created a form before by hand, I'm doing a decent job with the simple things like checkboxes, radio buttons, text boxes, etc. However, when the form starts getting complicated/interactive - (and needing Java), I get lost....totally, utterly, pathetically lost.

This is how I need the form set up:

Checkboxes for the following products where one-all can be selected:

Collar
Leash
Collar/Leash Set
Harness
Belly Band
Charm
Quick Link

Now let's say that someone selects "Collar," I need NEW boxes to show up as follows:

Size (Choices: Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large) - Radio Buttons
Neck Measurement - Text Box
Webbing Size (Choices: 3/8, 3/4, 5/8, 1") - Radio Buttons
(Based on their Webbing Size choice, I'll need a drop down menu that lists all available choices)
Webbing Choice - Drop down menu
Ribbon OR Fabric - Radio Buttons
(Based on their choice of Ribbon OR Fabric, I'll need a drop down menu that list all available choices)
Ribbon OR Fabric Choice - Drop down menu

***********

Collars, Leashes, Collar/Leash Sets, Harnesses and Belly Bands will all require the customer to select Webbing Size, Webbing Choice, and Ribbon OR Fabric Choice.

Collars, Harnesses and Belly Bands will all require the customer to select a size. Collars will require the customer to enter Neck Measurements, Harnesses will require Neck and Girth Measurements, and Belly Bands will require Waist Measurements.

Leashes come 4' standard but can be custom made for longer lengths. Perhaps if the customer selects to purchase a Leash, I could use Radio Buttons with two choices: 4' Standard or Custom Length. If a customer selects Custom Length, a text box will appear for them to enter the desired length. (This would also have to be done for the Collar/Leash Set).

If a customer wants a Charm, I will need a drop down menu that lists all the charms for sale.

If a customer wants a Quick Link, I will need a drop down menu that lists all of the available sizes.

***********

I've read through tons of online tutorials, I've tried using free scripts and editing them, I've tried just about everything and cannot, for the life of me, figure any of this out. I have a feeling this is a very complicated task for a newbie

If anyone could help me out - or even point me in some sort of direction to get started - I'd be eternally grateful, folks. Thanks!

I know. Use a form processor. It's a script that I think processes a form. Only a very few free ones I seen submit to a database while most are easy submissions into email.

Try Hotscripts.com and look for "Form Processors"

Heres the link to where the Form Processors category is: Hotscripts.com :: PHP :: Scripts and Programs :: Form Processors

remember select certain options like this:

Sort Listings By: Commercial | Ascending. That's to ensure the free comes up after the sponsered scripts then the commercial scripts.

Of cource you do get to have a HTML form. The processors just process what they support in their programming.

If you want a form online you could try to find a host gives you the option to have a form.
