Hi,

I haven't found anything on here about dropkick, a ( javascript jquery) replacement for select drop down menus.

If anyone has used it before, can you explain how to get it working? I already have the basic select menu created and working, but I would like to style it using dropkick.

Note: I have read the instructions on the site, but I am just out of ideas on how to get it working.

Thanks in advance!
Brian

Does anyone have a solution to this? Using Dropkick.js from http://jamielottering.github.com/DropKick/ I am unable to get Any result on my select menu.

I will take a fix to this one, or if you have another (SIMILAR) suggestion for styling select menus I will accept that as well, note: I have already tried css directly on the select menu, not liking it all with just css.

Please provide one with good documentation as well if possible as I am new to jquery. I know I have to add the script tag for jquery and the script your adding, but I get stuck with the inclusion of the function to make it work...

Thank you,
Brian

Any help?

Does any have another similar jquery library that actually functions? I can assure you this one just does NOT function...Well at least for me.

Hi,

Update:

After doing some debugging on the dropkick.js included in my page (using the web developer console in firefox), this is what I have come up with:

Code:
[22:50:51.686] SyntaxError: syntax error @ https://github.com/JamieLottering/DropKick/blob/master/jquery.dropkick-1.0.0.js:4
[22:50:51.695] The character encoding of the HTML document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the page must be declared in the document or in the transfer protocol. @ http://localhost/index.php
[22:50:51.735] TypeError: $(...).dropkick is not a function @ http://localhost/index.php:30
I have direct linked both jquery and the dropkick.js files from their respective sources just for debugging purposes.

Any ideas how to fix?
Brian

Could someone shed some light on this jquery thing o majig? It just looks cool so I want it to replace the crappy old select menu...Something nice for a change, or some other similar suggestions maybe? I want to style my select menu to the maxium possible degree, maybe using gradients, maybe not, but the divders are pretty cool too and even the arrows for that type of navigation. Just my 2¢.

Here's the link to Dropkick site:

Never used dropkick.js. But, have you tried another plugin type?
I heard Chosen.js was easy to use. http://harvesthq.github.com/chosen/
Personally, I haven't used it either but I know of a few people who did and they said they liked it.

I am going to try Chosen, I can't say I used it before, but I have been looking a different navigation systems, and I seen that, but like I said, never used it so, wish me luck...Let's see what happens with Chosen.

I have dropkick functioning, but not looking good at all, using the default options (with a custom theme -- black), I can only offer a video (screencast) to show how it looks, so I am not too sure how to fix it:

Please view the screencast attachement

Notice how the drop down choices are not the full width, and also the font is not readable.

Thank you
