They haven't anything in common, except a bit of syntax and the name.

Javascript is an interpreted language that run inside a browser.

Javascript was named Javascript because at the time of it's invention, Java was a very popular programming language. The language was originally named something else. Javascript creator Brendan Eich was even instructed by Netscape to "make the syntax look like Java". Other than that the two languages have nothing in common.
