I'm interested in learning how to fade a picture on a graphics. I often see this effect used, where something blends in to another and it looks really effective, although I've never been able to do it.

I've found quite a good example here - http://www.10thhussar.co.uk/Ruudvanni.jpg and there is another example of this being done in this tutorial i found. The tutorial however, isn't really the best, it doesn't really go through things fully and the effect is a little different.

Actually, that is a quite simple effect to achieve. Paste a pic on top of another pic(make sure they are seperate layers) and make a selection around the person. You can now feather and delete the selection.. repeat as many times as need to make sure it is blening smoothly.

you might also adjust the opacity. put whatever image you want to bland on top and on your layer palette there's a bar next to each layer. Slide the bar of the layer you want to fade down, and it will become transparent.

Or you can put the second image on top of the first on a new layer and then take the eraser tool and wipe out a side of it .. Lower the opacity of the Eraser tool using the tool Pallete box to get better results.

or you could set the layer to different blend types... I like burn, overlay, screen, or soft light, then it will blend into the other images.
