Creating curved edge in PSP7

Could someone please explain how to create a curved left hand edge to a picture in PSP7 ?

The pic at the top of this page is an example of what I am trying to do:

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for... But the way I normally do slopes like in that webpage's header is just make a huge ellipse and only use the part of it that you need, and let the rest dangle off the edge of the canvas...
