When viewed in Animation Shop this http://www.davidbridgen.com/images/am.gif and a similar gif is displayed at a reasonable speed (each frame duration is set at the minimum 0f 0.1s)

When viewed in either I.E. or Firefox they are pathetically slow and sluggish.

Is there a remedy or do I need to create something using Flash (which I know nothing about)?

I have just tried the following:
Take out every other frame, which leaves you with 36 frames, then do the same again (take out every other frame) which leaves you with 18.
This speeded up things considerably in IE.

Thank you Grenou.

After a rapid babtism in new territory I created .swf movies of the two files. (I did it frame by frame.)

They are much more satisfactory, and may be seen here.
