PSP7 & P-Bell Diamond 1200 scanner.

I have been using PSP7 for a few years now, and recently changed my scanner to a Packard-Bell Diamond 1200plus.
I find that when trying to start a scan, more often than noy, my computer crashes, or I get a message that the scanner is not connected, or another message, that there is a problem accessing the data source.
Sometimes I can start the scanner but if I try to get a preview then it crashes. Go straight to a scan and it may be OK.
P-B by itself works OK and it seems that their is some conflict with the PSP Driver, rather than the P-B Driver.
P-B include a Photo Express program and works fine with that, but I prefer PSP for obvious reasons. Is there a PSP Driver that will solve my problem.
