Paint Shop Pro v9 Beta

I stopped by Jasc's web site today and happened to notice that they are looking for beta testers for PSP9. Wow. It seems like v8 just came out!

Is anyone thinking of participating?

Just because you don't know how to use psp doesn't make it so. If you want we can do a graphics battle. I use PSP you use PS and we let the public whose graphic they like better.

BTW, I'll defenitely look into v9 and see if I can get in

Samson, Sultan, as much as I would love to participate, I simply don't have the time this summer. Please feel free to fill us in on your experiences and the things that impress you or not! It should be great fun for anyone putting forth the effort!

I did not realize when you said they are accepting beta testers that all you have to do is download it and use it. I am downloading both now and will probably have my wife go through the {weak} version more than I will. I am interested in seeing if they added some of those features that photoshop has.

I just went to the homepage and followed the links to download...

So far I don't see too much difference from v.8. They made it look a little smoother and changed up the color changer, other than that its not all that impressive.

Captain, I'm not very surprised to hear that as it hasn't really been that long (maybe a year) since v8 was released..... Keep us informed!

Id you read their thingy (yeah i know) it seems to me that they have some cool new effects. My dad does computer artwork that looks like oil paintings... he's gooooood, so he's interested in the new painting options, but he doubts it'll be anything close to Corel Painter. I personaly am interested in the "Digital Camera Noise Removal Filter" and the "Symmetric Shape Tool". I'm at my dad's house, so i haven't downloaded it yet. I'm going to ask if he minds me dl'ing it on his pc though.

I downloaded the beta version of PSP V9 Studio. I really like what I see so far. It seems very easy to use. The beta license expires 70 days after install, but you can register and get free tech support for those 70 days.

I'm going to. Provided i can get the download. It seems like it takes me forever to download a big file. expecialy being almost a hundred meg.

I've been using version 7 ever since it came out (I hated v.8) but I'll give 9b a try
(I would happily join a psp vs ps contest, but it wouldn't be a fair fight for poor ol ps...)

That would be great. I'm getting bombed by JASC to come buy the new PSP v9 but I haven't seen or heard anything about it yet to warrant me running out and doing so. Anyone using PSP 9, feel free to start a new thread or respond here just sounding off on the new features of the software, those you like, those you don't like, etc. I think there are a few of us who would find it worthwhile reading!

u know wots really strange....

an average person who, doesnt really know much about graphics downloads photoshop....all of a sudden they are creating these amazing graphics...

thats what happened with one of my mates. he downloaded ps and ppl started requested sigs being made by him...and he was good too!

and another one of my friends has photoshop as well, and he's pretty good with it.

that doesnt happen with psp...

First of all, your post is way off topic.

Secondly, it is inflammatory, uninformed and typical of the "mine is better than yours" that is too pervasive in the graphics community. Let's keep this topic about PSP9 and the people experiencing it. If you want to be a sycophant for Photoshop, we have a forum for that.

i downloaded the psp9 beta... i didnt notice much change from psp8

maybe that could be me, im not really into graphic design much
