In PSP8 try the warp mesh brush. It's in the group right under the pan (arrow) tool. Grab the square handles and move them as needed. You'll probably want to change the mesh horizontal and mesh vertical numbers, which simply change how many mesh lines you have horizontally and vertically.

I'm not sure what to tell you to try in PSP7. I honestly can't remember what, if any, warping tools it has.

If you're using PSP7, I would suggest playing with some of the effects under Effects > Geometric Effects

Hmmm I'm having the same dilemma. Any other tips? Another similar, if not the same question, if I want to blur the edges of an image so that it bleeds into the background colour of a webpage, how could I do this as flawlessly as possible?

for the "blurring", play with the eraser Opacity, Density & Hardness settings and "soften" the edges of the higher layers.

Depending on what version of PSP you have, you can also change the brush style to get different effects of the eraser, I find that chalk or charcoal work quite for edge softening.

Like Chris said but if you have straight lines doing it by hand can be difficult, try using freehand selection tool and setting the feather to 20 or so in tool options then just delete the selection and you get a nice soft but straight effect.
