No Dom, it's not a basic question, I am learning PSP 8 myself. You change the color in the Materials Palette (Color). If your Material Palette isn't up, go to View, Palettes and click on Materials. Or click F6....

Have fun!!

Also, the background color will be the main text color. If you set Stroke to 1 or more, the foreground color will outline your text. Seems backwards to me, but that's the way they did it.

hmm, just did that, but it keeps reverting to the original - why isn't it changing?

ok, nevermind - you have to select it with the text tool, and then change it, bigger pain then it should be

This all sounds pretty over blown for such a simple task, I use PSP7 in which its very simple to sort colours, the two colour paletes available control border and fill, you just change them to get your desired colour for your text.

I guess they have over complicated things in PSP8.

Visarts: In your Materials palette, check the "All tools" box under the colors. Then PSP8 will use the same colors for all the tools, which is what you were trying to do.

David43: PSP7 has the same option, doesn't it? I seem to remember that's the case. If so then I set that option early on and never worried about it from that point on.
