Is there any way to resize (reduce) a large high-res TIF image in PSP without losing image quality? I've tried to resize to fit a web page but the quality of the resized image is just bad.

Any ideas much appreciated !

Dom,

Once you begin to resize your image, make sure that you have "Smart Size" selected in the "Resample using" setting in the Resize dialog.

I am not sure if this is going to help because I am not great with tutorials....I have worked with tiff files, ok Kyrnt has answered already, but how about transferring the file right away to a psp format, saving this file to another name, wouldn't this stop the corruption Kyrnt, before resizing?

Giselle,

I see what you are saying but the likely reason that Dom is seeing poor resizing results is not because the file is in TIFF format, but rather because of the resampling mechanism being used. Some other resampling options such as bit resizing (or something like that) make absolutely atrocious photograph resizings. While I am sure they have their use, I have found that if I try to resize anything via resampling other than "Smart Size," it ends up looking horrible, pixelated, etc.

Once a raster image is loaded into PSP, regardless of whether it is TIFF or PSP format, the pixels are operated upon in the same manner. Obviously the vector resizings are a different discussion, but an effect is an effect. You can even add layers to JPGs. But if you try to save the JPG, then this is when PSP warns you that you are trying to save in a format that doesn't support all the features currently on the image (e.g., layers on a JPG), so the image is flattened beforehand.

A very good question, Giselle.

Version 8 is very cool, but I don't think I'll ever learn all the scripting features. But I am definitely a big PSP fan.

Dom, Giselle is right -- keep us informed of whether that solved your problem.....
