Successful website stories point on very important factor that is a number of returning visitors. What do ou think which methods are the best to keep your visitors coming back?
1) Running a forum or a chatroom
2) Running a blog
3) Doing polls and surveys
4) Having onine-games
5) Frequently updating the content

All depends on WHY you want to keep people coming back and why you wanted them there in the first place.

There isn't a magic answer.

I agree, I know people will come back if you offered them, eg a good price or a good customer service. That's as simple as the question why we breathe.

People will come back if you will GIVE them WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR. Simple. But that is always the best reason.

Let us not also forget that a good website must also be good to the eyes. I mean, everyone of us just wants something visually appealing to the eyes. We humans are very visual, so we tend to go for something that looks good. Plus, a website that is easy to navigate will always make visitors coming back. If your site looks good but is so complicated to navigate,it'll just frustrate the hell out of people.
Basically, it boils down to three things: WORTHY / GOOD CONTENT, COOL DESIGN and EASY NAVIGATION.

If you can make your site/product/service stand out from the others and offer something better or something others can't, that may also bring people back.

if our website have original articles and post that we make on our own, then also it will have enough capacity to attract new visitors.

My question is where will they come if I don't have a blog or a forum?

From my opinion visitors will come back if you have build something from their interest. Suppose, you do stock business and you have stock related blog or forum...So, your targeted visitors should be investors. If you can provide valuable information like Technical analysis, Fundamental analysis to them then they will re visit your blog/forum time to time..

And last of all, You have to maintain your blog/forum regularly against spamming, foul comments/talks etc.. You need to make your blog/forum safe to the surfers...... Just like this forum.
Hope you get some new ideas....

People! Please this talk of RSS feeds, a "blog", a forum etc. is all GARBAGE.

There is ONLY ONE answer to the original question, and that is this one.

Keep on changing the content, regular change n the content and adding up new and latest topics will definitely help visitors come back.

- Using Email Marketing to your subscribers to tell them something news and update about your site
- Using Social Media interact , bring them back with facebook and twitter
- Use contest to track them with top view or top comment user will win certain prizes.
- Live Chat support
- Bring them to your blog or forum as members.

Yep, the blog is a good idea as its content can bring some attention thus your chances of turning a standard visitor into customer get higher.

Content is the only thing readers are ever interested in, in my view. A blog would add a more personal tone and a certain attitude about a product, lifestyle, etc and the reader might embrace that.

You can offer your visitors free ebook for signing onto your mailing list. Than keep sending them useful and valuable information. You can send them an email and say you just wrote this new article that would benefit them. Or you can just send them some tips etc. It depends on your niche.

Keep adding new and valuable information to your website. Keep growing your business add more staff to it. Make yourself an authority in your niche and people will keep coming back.

There are few website that i keep coming back to and it's mostly because those blogs keep publishing interesting valuable content. They also engage with their visitors by answering their questions in comments and their emails too.
Treat your visitors well and make sure that their experience on your website is excellent.

What's funny is the fact that you're adding these "features" for all the wrong reasons.

I have an app in the App Store and I like to give back to users by posting updates in the forums, answering questions, etc. Recently, I wanted to do even more, so I added a blog. This blog it just a log of new things coming, or implemented into the game. It's not for "SEO" however if someone finds the site because of a blog post, then great! But these people are coming back because I am giving them what they want.

My conversion rate is doing so well that I've had people purchase an iPad just to download my game (as I've been told).

Oh and guess what.... my game is 100% free and I have no ads running on the site. OMG!!
