I've put a total of 3 videos on youtube, with no intensions of them getting many views at all. But one video I put together ended up on the front page of youtube. One of my old hobbies was offroad RC cars. One day I filmed a rc car "bashing" session, edited it into a nice video and put it on youtube. First I made the video exciting and fun to watch, a given if you want a lot of views. Then the title was very generic, something which a lot of people search for. It was something like "RC cars doing huge jumps!!!", I put a description naming all the brands of RC cars in the video which is something alot of people look for, I then posted it on some RC car forums which I was a member of and with in no time it had about 50 000 views.
What I'm going to be doing when my products are launched is make videos which will appeal to the masses and some how relate it my product. For example if I was marketing a new type of computer mouse for gamers, I might put a video titled "This guy owns noobs while trolling in COD and BF3". Then in the video have someone mention the mouse then show a video of an exciting game play in COD of BF3 then post it on some gaming forums.
If you tell us what you are promiting perhaps we could give you some ideas?
