Whats Linkwheel?

I am wondering on new terms what I am hearing about "Linkwheel" Link building, I searched web on it and saw one picture explaining how Link is developed for the main website.
In the process they were showing to create Squidoo lenses with unique content and inter-linking them with different Web2.0 Blogs and social sites and then connect that Squidoo lenses to the main website.. Well I understood this much apart.
I just want to know through the discussion that is it a legitimate ways to build links? Yesterday on webmasterworld.com I read that this kind of link building is not legit and can be caught by Search Engine Bots and can leads to getting Banned.
So i wana know how far it’s true? How far it should be done?
I would appreciate your comments
Thanks

It's just another junk way of getting junk links in a manner that the "experts" think won't get discovered and penalised by SEs.

Sure all these schemes work at first.
Having your own network of interlinked websites used to "work".
Tons of directory links used to "work".
reciprocal link schemes used to "work".
massive "link farms" used to "work".
Buying links used to "work".
This latest scheme will work for a while, but it won't take long for the SEs to figure out how to ignore such links, then it won't work any more, and we'll be seeing lots of ->
Google hates me!
Google penalised my site.
My website used to X" in the sERP now it isn't, what happened?
Some of us who have been around SEs for a few years (before SEs really existed) have seen all these schemes come and go just as quickly, and the aftermath of the idiots who fell for them crying into their beer.
As PT Barnum didn't actually put it "There's a sucker born every minute".

the concept of linkwheel was to get thins indexed quicker and to pass weight along the link wheel. Obviously though by linking to all your self-created content you were eventually going to get Google's attention. now Google can spot interlinked properties from link wheels.
However, creating relevant content, adding a link to your site and then linking to that content to raise the power of the link is the central idea behind it, and thats still up fro grabs, just dont create "networks" of links.

If you post quality content on these sites with a couple links inside then Google notices and you'll see ranking improvements.
Be sure to throw a couple links at these web 2.0 sites so they can get indexed.

A link wheel is a system of websites that point to each other in an attempt to improve rankings in Google’s organic search. The promoted site resides at the center of the link wheel. All other sites (spokes) link back to the promoted site. The spoke pages/websites link to each other in a circle. If you have 6 spokes named A, B, C, D, E, and F, then A points to B; B points to C; C points to D; D points to E; E points to F; and F points to A.

i was approached by someone about being part of a link wheel, it seemed sort of just like links to sites, to others then back to you. long on links, short on content.

Link Wheel and its Power

I know that Google hates the Link Wheel -
First Question - Why does Google hate the Link Wheel? (I'm talking about let's say a group of six or eight Web 2.0 properties linking to each other (like in a circle) and each property links back to your site's landing page).
Many people claim the wheel is so powerful. If they are correct, then why is the wheel so strong? Even if Google catches on - temporarily, it seems to boost the main site up in the SERPs.

Is "Link Wheel" still Useful to Our SEO Strategy?

As we all know, a "Link Wheel" is a system of websites that point to each other in an attempt to improve rankings in Google’s organic search. Of course, the promoted site often resides at the center of the link wheel.
But as far as I know, many Web .20 sites that used for our "Link Wheel" become useless gradually because many of them are not friendly with Google any more.
You see, in order to build a strong "Wheel", I try to build some sites in Weebly.com, WordPress, etc. But unfortunately, most of them can't be indexed by Google. What's a pity!
So, is "Link Wheel" still useful to our SEO strategy? What's your opinion?

Could you show me more detailed information about that? Is Google has become familiar with the "Link Wheel" these days?
Thanks for your answer.

Do a Google search for the info. You will find forums that are SEO oriented and most agree that link wheels used to work well, but now little if at all.
