Really nice! I've never tried press releases before and it might just make a nice addition to my SEO and general marketing efforts. Thanks to everyone for their lists. I have sorted through all the sites listed in this thread and removed duplicates so we have a fresh list here, totaling 65 in alphabetical order. I have not looked at them in detail yet so I don't know which ones are free or not. I will do that in the next few days and post results here.

I'm afraid you're going about it the wrong way.

Instead of using press release sites, send your press release to the press.

For an example, take a look at the "In the media" section on this site:

That was done by sending press releases directly to many local news organizations.

The link isn't important. The site just provides an example of how to get on the news. They've actually been featured on quite a few TV news segments as a result of sending press releases to local television news stations.

I've heard it said (or seen it written) that you really don't need much beyond that first list except for emediawire.com and businesswire.com.

Either way, it can't hurt to submit. The PR-Slurping sites will keep your info out there for a long, long time I've found. That's nice.
