I'm new to website promotion and am looking for some easy, daily (or weekly) routines that will get my site some promotion and traffic. There is one page in my site that sells a product and that is what I'm promoting.

I've read the forums and done the searches, but everything is so confusing. So I'm looking to this board for some "simple" ways to consistently promote.

SEO & Website marketing is not easy, and it won't happen automatically - unless you're willing to pay someone to do it for you.

Successfully selling online takes hard work & time...no way around it unless you have lots of $ to spend on PPC campaigns.

Do not purchase traffic! That is my suggestion. The conversion rates for purchased traffic are extremely low. Less than 1/4 %.

What search engines are you shooting for? What other promotional efforts have you exhausted?

does those ever work? or is it just a place for them to get your email to spam u??

well i am in the market to buy the sites with traffic, so i guess in a month i will have the first hand experience.

I'm using Web Position Gold 2, it's not cheap and does require a lot of input from the user but this is better in the long run. Avoid cheap stuff as thousands of hits on your site means nothing unless those hits are from targetted, qualified customers. Also, unqualified surfers hitting your site thinking it's something else will just be annoyed, and you could get a bad reputation.

Anyone else using WPG 2? I'd like to swap ideas etc.

The easiest way I have found to promote your site for free, is joining Top Site Lists. Basically, these sites are like ranking tables and the more clicks you send to a certain website, the higher your site will be shown on the ranking list. There are hundreds upon hundreds of top site lists for all categories. I suggest doing a search on google. You may also want to exchange links with popular sites, within the same catergory of your site.

if u want to promote yr site well and get it indexed properly...have patience..do not make haste...linking through posts in the forums of sites with high PR will be a good and reliable method. Though posting regularly over a couple of months will prove to be fruitful!

If you want high rankings in search engines you need to concentrate on incoming links and anchor text.

Zonelinks has got it spot-on. If you're concentrating on the primary engines, which is what most people recommend (don't forget there are many search engines out there that are charlatans simply in it to gather email addresses to bombard you with spam), don't get disheartened if your optimised page(s) isn't indexed the next day.

Most engines take up to a month and a half to index your latest submission.
