Help guys!!

okay.. about two months ago i decided to help my good friend out by making a website for him to sell his wall plaques he makes. I had no clue how to make a website, but i taught myself how to... and made one, and i think it turned out okay for not knowing what i was doing! LOL. So anyways, i got the site up and hosted, i did some linking with other sites, i have a page one Google ranking for "wildlife plaques" and page 2 without the quotations.. also in the first 2 pages of Yahoo and Altavista... i joined a linking site called TrafficSwarm... but despite all that i'm STILL only getting 3-4 hits a DAY. what am i doing wrong, and how do i get more traffic to the site??? Thanks guys.

What is TrafficSwarm ? If google sees it as a link farm then they will penalise that site and those linked to it which certainly wouldn't help your cause.

I haven't had time to look at it in detail but it is certainly not a site I would be using, that's for sure.

ok i got rid of traffic swarm... now how CAN i get traffic to the site???? any ideas? Anyone?

Priority one is to make sure you have as much quality content as possible to hold visitors attention when they get there and also to attract some through the search engines.

Secondly, continue to gain backlinks to your site, preferably from ones related to your site, if not from others of good quality.

Put the url of the site into your signature on this and any other forums you visit - search engine spiders will pick it up and you will get some traffic.

Take a look at your keywords - I'm no expert, but I believe there is a limit to how many a search engine looks at, if so you will want to shorten the list and make sure you have the best ones left. Also make sure those keywords are relevant to the page they are on.

You could try advertising on related sites that have a high number of visitors, but monitor it to make sure you get value for money

there's loads more you can do, hopefully this will get you started.
